Alien Ship
VR Exhibition - H.R. Giger Alone With The Night
I had the opportunity to create this environment in its entirety, from blockout to FX and final render, based on the inside of the Derelict ship that appears in the movie Alien(1979) for a "VR" project that was part of an art exhibition presented in Mexico City showcasing the work of H.R. Giger.
Altough the project wasn't going to be realtime, I relied heavily on my videogames background, using a modular approach and creating highly optimized assets to be able to tackle the biggest challenges on this project, making sure that the environment kept the amount of detail that Giger used to put on his work while still having a manageable scene to work with for previs and basic animation, avoid unpleasant tiling and still be able to achieve reasonable render times at 4k 360 degrees, all of this under a very tight deadline.
Being a fan of Giger's work, it was a pleasure to work on something related to him.
Done mainly with Zbrush and 3ds Max.

The developer of this project reached out to me to help them correct course, the project started without a project/environment lead and the team already working on it was starting to get frustrated with the lack of clear technical direction and artistic feedback.
Based on the requirement of the project for a high visual fidelity as the top priority, I decided on migrating the project to the NVRTX build of Unreal Engine 5 to take advantage of its realtime raytracing optimizations, I was then in charge of coordinating the already stablished team, remaking the textures to a higher standard as well as working on the fx, lighting and optimization of the level.

Train Station
TV Series - High Res Model For "Superman & Lois" Season 3 Finale
For this project I was responsible for the level design and initial blockout that had to be done in one day for client approval, after several revisions this was later used to break down the modelling tasks for the rest of the team.
I was then in charge of the production ready modelling of the whole structure of the train station and was assisted by the junior members of the team with the prop modelling that I used for the set dressing.

GOVERNMENT PALACE

I had the opportunity to scan the local government palace via photogrammetry, it was quite fun and challenging to work on this project as it is the largest scan that I had ever done, the building measures 256ft (78m) from side to side and 52ft (16m) tall, I don't have a drone so I had to do it all from ground level with my DSLR.
The final cleaned model had to be very well optimized as the building has a lot of small details that had to be preserved as much as possible but it couldn't be too heavy in order to be able to work complex animations on top of it.
I worked the building on two stages, a less detailed scan of the full building for the overall shape and positions of everything and individual scans of every unique detail of the building, those where the ones that I cleaned up and optimized to have a modular setup that I could duplicate in order to reassemble the full building with the necessary level of detail and be ready for animation.

For this level, I was tasked with the level set dressing, texturing using trim sheets and decals created by the rest of the team as well as setting the mood and lighting directly in Unreal Engine.
